Rules are more like guidelines anyways.....
I know this may seem like a lot of rules and I mean a LOT but you aren't required to read everyone. I mean the last thing I want to do when joining a new site is spend twenty minutes reading paragraph upon paragraph of rules which are the same on every site anyways. However we will hold you responsible for following them! Using phrases like I didn't know is no excuse to ignorance.
We ask that you at least give them a quick skim just so you have a basic heads up. Most of these are common sense and repetion to other sites anyways so don't worry we aren't power driven idiots. Small infractions will just result in a warning PM telling you to fix whatever we feel is necessary. Remember we do have the right to dismiss any member who abuses the rules drastically and may mean immediate deletion from the site. So no worries since we would all like to enjoy rping here.
Making a new account...
account activation
When creating an account, it may be smart to register under your character's name. It is not mandatory but if you wish to apply as a specific character and someone beats you too it we can not be held accountable as we can't read your minds.
Example:
Account name: remuslupin or remus or lupin
Display Name: Remus Lupin or Remus J. Lupin
Before having your character approved, you may only post your application or any questions you may have in the Portkey boards (general). There is no posting in character until you are approved (this includes the face claim!).
Any account that is made and left to sit for two weeks without any activity or application for a character will be deleted. If rejected, you have a time frame of two weeks to re-edit (based on given suggestions) and re-submit applications, if it is not done in the time given, the application will be deleted and you will have to apply again.
And the process begins....
application process
When applying for a character, you must use the application. Only completed applications will be accepted at any time, however you may post half of your application in the incomplete board, and continue to work on it at your leisure. Applications left to sit for more than a month without PMing an admin about an absence will be deleted.
No Mary/Gary-sues. Your character is not perfect. They are not stunningly beautiful, have straight O’s, aced their Newts, and the most popular person ever. Everyone has their flaws, everyone has those things they hate about themselves and others hate about them as well. Your character is no exception.
Special Powers/Abilities are not a common occurance. Unless you have permission to create a parseltongue, metamorphmagus, partial veela werewolf or other creature. Also not everyone is a pure-blood. Please mix your blood levels up. It is not the end of the world to be muggleborn or half-blooded. It makes you more interesting!
If you make multiple characters within this site try to keep the ratios mixed up. Don't make all girls or all boys because that will just throw everything out of balance!
Everyone (save for twins) must use a different celebrity for their character. A complete list can be found in the Sign ups board. Also, use a celebrity that is age appropriate, or if you want to use a celebrity that is not age appropriate, find younger pictures of them that will pass for the appropriate age.
All Hogwarts students must be between ages 11-17, unless they were held back a grade. Graduated age means 17+, unless your character is a genius that skipped a few grades. Generally, a first year is 11 years old, a second year is 12, a third year 13, a fourth year 14, a fifth year 15, a sixth year 16, and a seventh year 17.
Original or extra crispy?
canons
A canon list can be found in the Sorting Hat board, however if there is a canon we left out that you would like to play, feel free to PM us at any time. Adoptables work the same way!
Time to play...
when posting
No power playing, god-moding, you know the basics. You can not post:
Mr. Smith pulled out his wand and shot a spell at Mr. Taylor, killing him. You can not hurt, kill, move, or greatly affect any other characters without their permission. That also means you can not hear the thought process of the other character, and comment on it in your character's thoughts.
This is an intermediate to advanced roleplay, so you may not post one liners. Or two liners. Or three liners for that matter.
Example: I like cats, I like kitties. Squeeze them into itty bitties.
You should be posting at least two solid paragraphs with four to six sentences per paragraph.
Example: I adore cats! Any type or size, shape, color or even personages. There's just something about these amazing creatures that fascinates me. Their eyes glow in the night like fireflys and their tails are their whole universe of balance. Cats vary in many sizes and can be tame or even wild
Now that I'm done my essay lol Please try to use spell check, and use proper grammar. You may bold your dialogue. You may not use bright colors that clash with the boards or are unreadable.
Finally, if a thread is reserved, mark who it is reserved for in the title or at the top of your first post in bolded or underlined text. Do not post on a thread that is reserved for someone else. If your thread is not marked for anyone and someone joins that you weren't expecting you can not get mad at the me for it! Nono ^_^
Ok kids play nicely!
out of character
Do not take any issues In Character into Out Of Character. This goes for any issue. If you really have a problem, pm the person you have a problem with and talk it out. Do not involve anyone else. Any issues and you will be immediately banished.
Keep swearing to a minimum (so basically not every word) Use common courtesy please.
Enjoy it here! It's created for your fun and enjoyment because we all LOVE rping, use the OCC boards to do whatever you want.
Don’t spam, don’t advertise. Advertising may only be done in the proper board.
Hogwarts Hogwarts Hoggy Hoggy Hogwarts...
You can not access any of the common rooms of any other house under any circumstance without risking detention. However, girls and boys of the same house may sneak into each other’s dorms. Good luck on the staircases boys
Dress code must be worn when classes are in session. You may alter it slightly, but you better not be caught by a teacher. It does not matter how you wear it after classes are out for the day.
Certain places are forbidden (ooo). The Forbidden Forest is called so for a reason. You may not enter teacher’s offices (without proper reason) and store rooms without permission, or be out past curfew (which is 8 for 1-4. 9 for 5-6. 10 for 7th years), etc. You may enter these places as long as you do not get caught. Also, not everyone can sneak around without being caught past curfew. We don't all have invisibilty cloaks to do so without getting caught.
Electronics do not work within Hogwarts grounds (Hogwarts, A History). So you don’t have an ipod, a stereo system, or a tv. Electronics may be used in your residences and muggle areas only. The only exception to this is our MC's (Magic communicators), which is not electrical, it's run by magic.
You may bring a rat, cat, owl, toad, turtle, or if you want to be particularly colorful, you may bring a small caged bug. You may also have puffskeins. Basically you can have little pets that live in a confined area. You may not bring: hippogriffs, dogs, etc.
They aren't many and they are all pretty fair. We may update depending on rule breaking or missed content but it will be announced before doing so. So have fun and happy Rping.
