With September here and the evenings getting shorter, Gwendelynn had to make every minute count as she hurried to make the grounds of the school presentable. Having been focused for three days straight, Gwen was almost finished with the vast flower garden. Oh, she knew it was the Herbology teachers' and the students job to take care of the gardens, but with everyone just getting back into school and all of the teachers and students getting settled in their routines, Gwen took it upon herself to get them ready for the winter frost.
Pruning had been the biggest job yet, because everything pruned needed to be taken out to the compost. As she grabbed a handful of rose prunes, she found herself being poked by yet another thorn. "Ow, damnit" she muttered, dropping the sticks. She put her finger in her mouth, and sucked at the cut. Ronan bounded over from wherever he had been, sniffing and whimpering at her. He didn't like it when she injured herself, but there wasn't anything he could do about it. As Gwen waited for the pain to cease, she looked around at the garden, full of pride at what she had accomplished.[/blockquote] Outfit- HERE

EVERYDAY’S A ROLLER COASTER I’M A BUMP YOU’LL NEVER GET OVER
Amara had been re-exploring the familiar castle grounds with Connor when they happened across the gardens. This was her sixth year which meant she was partly responsible for the gardens upkeep. Every year the sixth year, Herbology class managed, grew and cared for the Hogwarts garden. Part of it was to ease the load of the already busy groundskeeper and the other part was to show their understanding of magical plants. The Hogwarts gardens were large, why wouldn’t they be housing magical plants. They were a maze of flowers, vines, shrubs and small trees from all over the world. Their were mini fountains, statues and even the odd secret passageway. Mara’s favourite of all of them were the rose bushes. Why wouldn’t they be? Roses were her favourite. They had one area in the far corner dedicated to roses, white, red, pink, yellow even blue and black roses. This was where she would escape to last year when she needed to think to herself.
As she and Connor entered the gardens, she jumped in surprise at the curse word and glanced back at the Wood boy. Being the curious being that she was of course she had to investigate. She walked forwards, her baby blue shirt blowing lightly in the wind. She stepped down onto the cobble stone path, seeing the girl and her sucking her finger. Mara’s mouth dropped open and she stepped forwards quickly. “Wait you shouldn’t!” she quickly grabbed the groundskeepers hand and the semi clean rag on the ground next to her. She wrapped up her finger and pressed firmly. “Some of these plants can be poisonous and others can be carriers of infections. You shouldn’t suck on your finger even if it was only pricked from a thorn.” She smiled at her in a friendly way.
Mara had been working hard to be a healer. She had wanted to be one for as long as she could remember. She was in all advanced classes and President of events, as well as on the quidditch team and volunteered with the mediwitch as often as she could. Everyone knew who she was then again she was well known through tutoring and the choir as well. Amara looked up to take a good look at her a moment before giving her a friendly grin. “Hey! You’re the woman who was talking to Oliver Wood in Diagon Alley this summer right? We’re his kids! Well Connor here is..” she motioned to her best friend behind her. “I’m kind of adopted into the family…I’m Amara”

The two students to suddenly appear beside her took both Gwen and Ronan by surprise. Before he had the chance to growl at the sudden closeness of the of the teenagers, Gwen gave him the command to silence. When Amara held her finger in the rag, Gwen felt like an idiot for not thinking of that herself. She was always causing herself injury and never thinking things through clearly. She smiled up at her thankfully, preparing to thank her, when the words she spoke finally sunk in. These kids had seen her with Oliver at Diagon Alley over the summer.
Gwen smiled, hoping to make a good impression on the two eldest children, "Hello, I'm Gwendelynn O'Connor. Groundskeeper." She smiled at both directly Amara and Connor. She didn't want to freak them out, but she did really want to make a good impression. People whos kids like them, were probably far more likely to like them as well. Not that she was trying to use them or anything. But she did want to be liked by most everyone. Gwen mentally shook her head. She was being ridiculous.
"This is Ronan," Gwen motioned to the giant trembling beast beside her. "If you allow him to sniff you, he'll know you're a friend, and that you're safe to be around." she smiled as the dog stretched his head out over her, towards the two hands.

Amara smiled and held her hand out to the dog a moment before giving him a pat and standing back up. “Nice to meet you Gwendolyn” she smiled and stepped back by Connor. She glanced at her best friend and then back at the groundskeeper unsure what to say which didn’t happen often seeing as how she was a part of so many things: Events, prefect duties, advanced classes, choir, tutoring club, Quidditch.
“Have you known dad er Oliver long?” she asked not wanting to confuse her by calling him dad. Amara did have a dad. He was about Oliver’s age, also a Professor at Durmstrang teaching Arithmancy though which partly explained her knack on the subject. She shook off the momentary daze as she flashbacked her father and lifted her head high, waiting for an answer.
The smell of flowers filled her nose and she sighed almost like a hopeless romantic before hearing Connor clear his throat and looking at him, brushing him off. He was so impatient but he was uncomfortable around new people a lot of the time.

Gwendelynn cleared her throat at the question. How long had she known Oliver. Um. Wow. They'd met that day and sparks had flown. Besides then, they had only really spoken on opening day, when they had shown Avys Knight around. She looked up at the two children who claimed him as their father.
It seemed weird that Amara was having such a hard time referring to him as Oliver, but then she said he was practically his father. "Oh. No. We had actually met then, that day. We had just happened to take a rest on the same bench and chat. It was funny to see him here. But we dont actually know each other that well..." she turned to look at the branches on the ground. She didn't know Oliver very well, but that didn't mean she didn't want to get to know him. Unknown what to continue on with the conversation, she asked, "You guys excited to be back at school?" It was a pretty blah question. But maybe Amara really liked school, and she would have stuff to talk about. Connor seemed quite quiet. He hadn't said a word, preferring to allow Amara to speak for the both of them.
